Tuesday, November 20th, 2018

Winter Coffee House is fast approaching! Dec 11th! Auditions close tomorrow and posters are up. We are going to charge 2$, socks or a canned food item for admission.
We also have these people bringing baked goods for the bake sale:

Kayla+Naomi: puffed wheat squares
Tobias: Cheesecake
Shanon: Chocolate chip cookies
Sarah: Rice Krispie squares

There’s a group effort on caramel cookies

Evelyn: chocolate cookies with white chocolate chips
Sydney: cookies?

If you would like to bring something let me know.

Mario and Aidan are organizing tape Mr. Carvey Fundraiser. The proceeds will go to Prostate cancer research.

Mario and Milan went collecting signatures for the parking petition Thursday.

Our MPI presentation was on Friday and went well.

Nehal presented the idea of a school green team to make Massey sustainable so if you would like to participate let her know.

 

 

Tuesday, November 13, 2018

Nolan Barnes from MPI is coming on November 23rd. We will need to council members to greet him with swag and water. Also, Mario, Annie and Shanon agreed to pull out the bleachers on Friday at lunch.

 

Coffee House is fast approaching! We have posters for auditions up for the following dates,

Wednesday the 21st after school

Friday the 23rd at lunch

Tuesday the 27th after school

Our judges are Jenn, Rebecca and Givan

Also we are having a bake sale the following people agreed to bring something:

Tuesday at lunch are grade 9-10 activities in the gym, Thursday at lunch are grade 11-12 activities in the gym.

 

Milan, Annie and Hannara will be creating posters for spirit week.

Mr. Mahar went over a great opportunity to learn about the Japanese government. It includes six student from VMC going to Japan. It is totally free except for spending money and is available for students in grades 10, 11 and 12. They’re might be a home stay and it will be a educational trip so you will end up in lots of meetings while you are there. You also need a valid passport to be considered. If you would like more details contact Mr. Mahar in room 215.

 

Zena talked about doing Halloween pictures on the formal day of spirit week and the people who volunteered to help her are: Givan, Milan and Jordyn. She also talked about getting bracelets for Breast Cancer Awareness Month.

 

We started thinking about our Halloween Spirit week and doing games for grade points during those games. We also discussed having a haunted house, hallways or decorating the bleachers during the pep rally. We will need posters for whatever we decide on as well as Spirit week and I believe Milan is in charge of those.

March: Kelsey King Coffee House, Spring Spirit Week, Pie a Teacher, St. Patrick's Day Something

April: Talent Show- 25th, Easter Egg Hunt

May: Town Hall, New Council BBQ

June: Final Exams, Animals again (outside)

We also discussed new ideas: Movie Night, 50's Sock Hop, Teacher Arm Wrestling, We ruled out Sticker Tag

Fundraisers: Kiss a Pig, Duct Tape Mr. Carvey, Guess Jelly Beans in Jar

Milan talked about the parking on the street and changing it to 2hrs.

If you were looking to be a grade 9 or 10 rep for the year nomination forms are due Monday at 8:30. We have room for 5 grade 9 reps and 6 grade 10 reps. If you completed your nomination form you will have to give a short (2-3 min) speech for the group during our meeting this Tuesday, October 2nd. We would also like to solidify our grade 11 and 12 reps, so if you were still wanting to be one let Mr. Laratt know.

 

Mrs. Suffield told us about a development opportunity, it's a suicide prevention seminar. It is on October 19th, at the Board Office and there is no fee. You must be at least 15 years old and you would need your own transportation. Let Mr. Laratt know if you are interested.

 

Our MPI presentation is on November 23rd at 1pm. Our presenter is Nolan Barnes.


Friday, we are having our Big Meeting on Friday, the 5th of October in the Health room. It is during Lunch, Period 4 and Period 5. You will be sanctioned but, make sure it is okay with your teachers before coming. This is the meeting where we go over everything we are going to do this school year. We are open to new suggestions as well.

Tuesday September 11, 2018

Thursday is the Meet the Teacher BBQ. If you would like to help out with that and didn't see Milan either let me know or contact Milan.

 

Friday is the Club Fair. We have a team of people working on that. If you are interested in helping please contact Givan.

 

Friday we are also putting on the welcome back BBQ. We need people for set-up period 3, you will be sanctioned. We also need help during Lunch for cooking and handing out hotdogs. Clean up period 4 is also an area we could use some help in, that will also be sanctioned. If you can help out during any of those time either let me or Milan know.
